FERPA-related product notice for Munkey AI

This application is intended for institution-managed use in postsecondary courses. The controls in this repository support privacy-aware workflows, but the app should not be marketed as independently certified or guaranteed FERPA compliant without institution review, vendor contracting, and operational approval.

Inspect and Review

Eligible students can request a copy or review of records maintained in the product.

Amendment Requests

Students can request review of records they believe are inaccurate, misleading, or privacy-invasive.

Admin Review

Institution admins can review requests in-app and coordinate the institution response.

How to use these rights in Munkey AI

Signed-in users can open Account Settings to download their current record export and submit FERPA-related requests.

Institution admins can review request status and add follow-up notes from Institution Settings.

Requests submitted through Munkey AI should still be handled in line with your institution's official FERPA procedures and retention schedules.

Important limitations

This repository does not itself prove institution-level FERPA compliance. Institutions must still verify storage policies, vendor agreements, annual notices, incident response, and approved data governance practices.

The app uses third-party processors for storage, language-model processing, and vector retrieval. Institutions should confirm that those services are approved for the categories of student data they intend to process.
